A 14-week-old baby died because of what her mother put on her head

Who would have thought that a common fashion item could be so dangerous to young children?
In the case of the daughter of a friend of this woman from Glasgow, Scotland, the item turned out to be fatal.
The woman, whose name has not been released, posted on social media a few years ago telling about a friend who lost her 14-week-old daughter in a horrific accident.
The cause of the accident? A headband with a large bow. You’ve probably seen this fashion item before, and it’s becoming increasingly popular among parents looking to ‘decorate’ their little ones.
It turns out that the girl's mother was walking with the child in a stroller, and the baby was wearing the bow with a ribbon. But the bow came loose from the baby's head, slipping over her mouth and nose.
The mother was sure her daughter was tired and asleep, but when she checked on her, she was no longer breathing. Tragically, doctors said she died from suffocation.
The post immediately became viral and was shared tens of thousands of times, as well as reaching the news papers.
“To all new mothers, beware!
I want to warn all mothers of small babies who use a large headband on their head.. a friend of mine lost her 14 week old daughter while she was sleeping in a lightweight bassinet after a long walk. When she checked on her, she saw that the headband had fallen off and was covering her mouth and nose and she was not moving.. she passed away. The cause of death was suffocation. She saw that I would share her story so that other mothers would be aware of the dangers of this fashion item. She only let baby Holly sleep for 30 minutes and forgot to take the headband off, and she is completely broken. Please do not send me friend requests, I only accept friends and family, but I am sure Lorna would appreciate your condolences..”
Please be careful and be aware of your babies at all times. They cannot tell you what is bothering you or when they are in distress.
