A woman from Albuquerque, New Mexico, finally got arrested by the local police in what was described as one of the most severe harassment cases ever.
The 28-year-old woman, not only did she call his ex-boyfriend 77,639 times, but she sent him 1937 e-mails, 41229 text messages and 647 letters. All in just one week!
Linda Murphy, who has a history of obsessive behavior, couldn't accept her breakup with William Raines, whom she went out with for three weeks. She is charged for using three phones simultaneously to call him, 24 hours a day. She called his cell phone, his home number and his work number. According to reports she has consumed large amounts of caffeine and stimulants to stay awake, and during a period of a week, almost without sleep, kept calling and harassing her ex.
"My client is very relieved that Mrs. Murphy is finally behind bars", said J.D. Kilroy, William Raines's attorney. "He couldn't sleep, work or enjoy life in any way, for more than a week. He was not able to think clearly and was in a state of depression. It's time that this stalking will stop. Now all we want is that Mrs. Murphy will receive the medical treatment that she needs, and that the law will keep her away from my client".
The accused woman will stand before a judge, and experts assume that the judge will order a psychiatric examination to determine if she is competent to stand trial.
