A mother of five gave her children a 'screen detox' and couldn't believe the results - her daughter jumped 5 levels in reading

As parents, we can all relate to the struggles we have in managing our children’s screen time and worrying about their technology consumption.
From the moment they are little babies, our little ones are surrounded by screens and sometimes it feels like a full-time job to keep them away from all that technology.
As busy parents, it’s very tempting to give our children screen time so we can do chores around the house or just relax for a few minutes, even though we are aware of the negative effects it has on our children.
But one brave mother decided to completely eliminate her children’s screen time and the result was amazing.
Like most parents, Molly DeFrank was acutely aware of the effects of technology on her children.
“It turns out that screens did to my kids exactly what the studies say they did: develop angry, inattentive little people who argue about everything”, she wrote on her website.
‘Can play on your phone?’
The mother of five children under 10 allowed her children one hour of screen time a day, and even that was apparently too much.
The straw that broke the camel’s back for Molly was when she came home from running errands and her youngest child greeted her at the door.
“My preschooler greeted me with, ‘Can I play on your phone?’. No. That was the straw that broke the camel’s back. My husband and I decided we needed to reorient ourselves. And fast”, she wrote.
She started a 30-day detox program, but couldn’t believe the amazing results, so she decided to continue it.
“The detox was surprisingly easy and went smoothly, and my 9-year-old daughter told me several times that she was glad we took away their screen time”, Molly wrote.
Kids play better together
“My daughter reads books faster than I buy them, my son teaches the family art (it was his idea), and it turns out that ‘go play outside’ that our moms used to use on us so successfully – still works!! (if the kids aren’t glued to the screens)”.
Molly said her kids play better together, are more creative, obedient, happy, and sleep better. She even wrote a guide to help other parents.
What do you think of what Molly did? Have you tried it with your kids?
