This is why you should never ask for lemon in your drink - it's more disgusting than you think
A lemon slice or two drops add flavor to water, everyone agrees on that. But is it healthy?
Well, after reading the article, we are sure that your opinion will change drastically.
When you go to restaurants, most places will add a slice of lemon to your water or coke. But there is an excellent reason why you should ask the restaurant staff not to do this.
Make no mistake, lemon has many health benefits and is excellent for you. It helps the body get rid of toxins, and is also great for your skin. But when it comes to restaurant drinks, never add lemon.
A wonderful place for bacteria and germs
In a 2007 study, scientists examined 76 lemons from 21 different restaurants. Their goal? To see how many bacteria the lemons contain.
The results were extremely shocking. Almost 70% of the fruits were covered with bacteria that can cause viruses and diseases.
In a later investigation, ABC News revealed that half of all vegetables in restaurants tested contained particles of human feces.
Why never put lemon in a drink
So why are there so many bacteria in lemons? Well, the researchers noticed that many restaurant workers did not wash their hands before handling the lemons. This means that the fruits have come into contact with bacteria from toilets, door handles, other people, and more.
In other words, it is better to skip the lemon in water or cola.
This is of course extremely disgusting, and can also be harmful.
