Parents decided to donate their child's organs: after signing the documents, a miracle amazed the doctors

13-year-old Trenton was involved in a car accident, he suffered such severe injuries that he went into a coma with a serious fear of brain injury.

The boy fought for his life, when the doctors eventually determined that there was nothing more they could do for him. So, when his parents signed a document allowing Trenton's organs to be donated to five children, something happened that no one thought possible.

When 13-year-old Trenton McKinley was involved in a fatal traffic collision, he was on the verge of death. Miraculously, he survived, but his brain was severely damaged and he went into a coma.

When Trenton arrived at the hospital, the doctors took him into the operating room and discovered that he had seven brain fractures, and in the first hours he died four times - at one time he was 'dead' for 15 minutes, before the doctors were able to revive him.

The doctors' decision

Young Trenton was brought back to life four times, but in the last time the doctors saw no brain waves and discovered that his brain stem was severely damaged.

The doctors determined that Trenton was brain dead, and told the parents that the next time his heart stopped beating, they would let him die.

"The next time his heart stops beating they'll have to let him die...or I can sign an organ donation document that will save the lives of five children.. so I signed it.. I knew he wouldn't hesitate to save the lives of others", said Trenton's mother, Jennifer.

Trenton's organ donation

When Jennifer and her husband were told that there was no longer any hope of saving their son, they decided to accept the doctors' offer and donate his organs.

"Five children needed organs that matched Trenton's", Jennifer said. "It was unfair to bring him back to life every time, because it only damaged his organs more and more".

But minutes after they signed the documents, Trenton began to show signs of life. According to the WALA website, just one day before doctors were to take him off the ventilator, Trenton showed signs of mental cognition.

Part of the skull is missing

Trenton was injured in March, when the car he was in overturned. As a result, part of his skull is now missing and he has lost a lot of weight, but his sense of humor is not affected at all.

"I can turn my head sideways and use it as a snack bowl", he laughed when he woke up.

While Trenton still has a long way to go before he is fully recovered, he is grateful to have survived. He himself believes that he arrived in heaven for a short period of time.

"I was in an open field and I walked straight", he said. "There is no other explanation except God. There is no other way. Even the doctors said that".

Jennifer uses Facebook to update others on her son's condition. She is grateful that he recovered against all odds and wants to use his story to give hope to others.

13-year-old Trenton was nicknamed the 'Miracle Boy', because no one can explain how he woke up from a coma. It proves that one should never lose hope, because in the end, the impossible can happen.
