It's called 'the best pasta sauce in the world': and you only need 3 ingredients - that you already have at home
Since I can remember myself, I have been a passionate pasta lover. There are even pictures of me as a kid with a bowl of pasta in front of me and a face full of sauce.
Over time, my table manners have improved of course, but I still love pasta and am always looking for good recipes.
So when I saw this simple yet delicious tomato sauce recipe, I couldn't help but share it with everyone I know.
The decorated chef Marcella Hazan, the genius behind this sauce, calls it "the world's best pasta sauce", and I must agree with her.
Of course everyone will judge it for themselves. But most people would agree that this is one of the simplest recipes for pasta sauce.
Marcella Hazan knew how to make pasta. For 48 years, she has published bestselling recipe books, usually about home-cooked italian food.
Marcella died in 2013, but her recipes continue to live and carry the Italian tradition with them.
One of her famous recipes is a tomato sauce containing of only three ingredients. It's the simplest, and it may be the best red tomato sauce you'll ever make at home!
How to Prepare:
1. Put all of the following in a pot: a whole can of canned tomatoes (tamarind tomatoes are best), 5 tablespoons butter, one peeled onion cut in half and a little salt.
2. Bring to a boil. Then let the ingredients simmer on medium heat for 45 minutes. From time to time, crush the tomatoes with a wooden spoon to gently break them apart.
3. Season and serve. Add some salt and maybe some black pepper. You can also remove the onion from the sauce before mixing it with the pasta if you'd like to.
Looks delicious, right? You can always add grated parmesan and some basil to enhance the flavor and upgrade the sauce.
Sometimes, the simple things in life are the best, just like this recipe.
