Every now and then, we wish we had the courage to do something like this.
This story comes from England, and some people claim it didn't really happen in real life (although we're sure someone tried it before). Either way, it made us laugh out loud, and we hope more people share it. Because it's just awesome.
Outside the Bristol Zoo, in England, there is a parking lot that holds about 150 cars and 8 buses.
A nice and hospitable man ran it, using a ticket machine he charged $2 for a car and $6 for a bus. The man worked in the parking lot for 25 years. Then one day he just didn’t show up for work anymore.
“Well..”, said the director of the Bristol Zoo – “we should call the municipality and ask them to send someone else to work in the parking lot”.
“Mmm..no..”, said the municipality. “The parking lot is your responsibility”, they told the zoo director.
“Mmm..no..”, said the zoo director. “The worker was employed by the municipality, wasn’t he?”.
“Absolutely not!”, insisted the municipality.
Sitting in a villa somewhere on the coast of Spain, there was a man who had been charging money for parking at the zoo. About $600 a day for 25 years. Assuming he worked there 7 days a week, that amount had accumulated into the millions.. the funny part? No one knows his name.
