Albino sisters born 12 years apart became a modeling sensation
|
They may have been born more than a decade apart, but these two sisters share something truly extraordinary.
Albinism is a rare genetic condition that results in a lack of pigment in the skin, eyes, and/or hair, giving those who have it a distinct and striking appearance.
Children born with albinism are extremely uncommon—making it all the more remarkable that a couple from Kazakhstan became parents not to one, but to two daughters with albinism, born 12 years apart.
Meet Asel and Kamila, the unique sisters who have turned their rare genetic trait into a successful modeling career.

A Shocking Surprise
Asel, the older sister, is 14 years old. Her mother, Aiman Sarkitova, recalls being stunned when Asel was born.
“When I gave birth to my first daughter, genetic testing wasn’t as advanced where we lived,” she said. “It’s better now—but at the time, even the doctors were shocked.”
So when Kamila was born 12 years later—also with albinism—the family could hardly believe it.
From Rarity to Runway
Seeing the two sisters together is nothing short of mesmerizing. Their shared features and ethereal beauty led them to join forces as a modeling duo.
Asel began modeling at the age of 10, and since Kamila joined her, their popularity has soared. The sisters now have over 33,000 Instagram followers, and their captivating photos continue to gain worldwide attention.
Challenges Beneath the Spotlight
Despite their success, life with albinism comes with serious challenges—particularly heightened sensitivity to sunlight.
“If I go outside in the afternoon, I have to apply sunscreen, wear clothing that covers my whole body, and use a hat and even an umbrella for shade,” Asel explained.
“It’s much easier for me once the sun goes down and there’s no bright light.”

Their growing fame in the modeling world is helping to **shine a light on albinism**, revealing the stunning and unique beauty of those who have it.
“Many people don’t even know what albinism is,” Asel said.
